Bonjour GGG lovers,
Listening to: Sweat It Out – Breathe Carolina
As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been MIA for a couple of posts. Unfortunately, my PC experienced yet another number of crashes. I had to give up on my HP (named Happy Pappy) and opted out on getting a Macbook Pro which is named MacDaddy lol.
I’ve finally finished Part II of Dead Island. Wow! I think Act II grew increasingly scarier than Act I. In this act you’ll encounter a number of new zombie characters and even gang rebels who have given up on humanity and fight even other civilians. As mentioned in my first review, I will not provide too much detail of the gameplay so to not spoil any gamers who wish to play.
If you haven’t read my first review, view here: Dead Island Review: Part I
In Act II your character will be entering the City of Moresby. This is the main city of the Island of Banoi. Like in the first review, you will have to complete missions that include some other mini-missions. You’ll enter into the City of Moresby and find the difficulty has increased. Zombies are harder to anticipate as the buildings hide most of them from view. The zombies will also be more aggressive and there will be a lot more in the area. Which is realistic, you’re in a city. The city is a rundown area with many broken down buildings. Most buildings you won’t be able to go into but you can climb ladders and sometimes use the roofs for travel but remain cautious as there may be zombies or punks on the roofs even the Infected can follow and climb if easy enough. The weather changes from time to time. Every once and a while the area will become darker and it will rain but I have yet to experience night time in Dead Island, if any.
When you first enter the city you’ll find a church which is your first safe zone but before entering the church you must kill a few zombies and a new character. Once completed you will have to complete missions from the survivors in the church. You’ll also encounter 4 other safe zones. A warehouse with about 7 other mini-missions, a water plant building with 2 mini-missions, and two abandoned houses. One with 1 mini-mission and the other with about 3 mini-missions.
During the missions will have to face 4 new characters along with the zombies you’ve already dealt with in Act I:
Ram: Very large and very strong alpha zombies. They are original patients who’ve escaped from the insane asylum. Their objective is to literally ram into survivors. One hit will drastically decrease your health. Frontal attacks are ineffective. A suggested method is to wait for their attack and right before they ram into you move to the side then quickly hit them from behind. Be quick though, they can move as swiftly as you!
Toxic (or as I call them Stinkers): A fog of green smoke floats about these Walkers and Infected. These zombies have been in sewer locations where they’ve been infected by toxic chemicals. Most are Walkers so their movements are usually slow but remain too long within their presence and the toxins will begin to fatigue you and leave you vulnerable to attacks by surrounding zombies. To defeat these zombies, attack them with a few blows then quickly retreat to give your character a breather.
Punk: These are civilians who think of only themselves. They’ve become greedy and attack any survivor. Be sure to hold out your guns for these characters instead of using guns for the zombies as these rebel thugs are loaded with their own guns and come in packs so close combat is not recommended. Though they are not as fierce as the zombies, enough hits from a bullet will leave you dead in a short period of time.
Floater: A bloated, decaying zombie. Their actions are slow but if you’re in close range these creatures spit out a corrosive slime that will decrease your health. These zombies are found in water areas especially when you enter the sewers. Though these creatures have slow movements the guide states that they are harder to kill as their tissues absorb impact. So, I’ve actually only killed a few. I pretty much just book it out of there or shoot at them.
Remain cautious in the City of Moresby as there are many obstacles like cars and food market carts that block view and again an Infected can see/smell you from a mile away. You just never know when you turn a corner how many more zombies you’ll have to fight off.
I’ve completed Act II and have just begun Act III which takes place in the jungle of Banoi.
