To the beautiful you 아름다운 그대에게 Hana-Kimi 花ざかりの君たちへ

31 Aug

Hello GGG Readers!

Lately, I haven’t played much game. Though, I did figure out how to use Xsplit to stream live on Justin.TV/Twitch.TV

So, I’ll upload some play whenever I get a chance.

What have I been doing, then? The answer is K-drama LOL

If you guys knows Hana-Kimi, its originated from a Japanese manga. There’s also J-drama and Taiwan-drama too. I’ve only seen J-drama, still need to finish reading the manga.

The K-drama version has been out for a while now (still on-going).

<K-drama>

<J-drama>

<Taiwanese drama>

<Japanese manga>

I, personally, think there’s too many casts from SM Entertainment including the ones who hasn’t debuted yet. I love the cast except for the annoying chick who follows the main guy. And, the story is a lot different which kills the originality.

I don’t know what kind of camera they use, but is it me? The colour’s too beautiful LOL. It looks fake, or has been photoshopped…

All in all, it’s the best drama playing of the week. I watch a lot of dramas… like 7 per week. K-dramas are 1 hour per episode, they play everyday except for Saturday & Sunday because I don’t like the weekend ones after “Dr. Jin

You can stream them here http://www.viki.com/

Riven Armor Cosplay Video Tutorial: Part 3 & 4

30 Aug

Hello Everyone!

Today I’ll be posting two videos. One will be Part 3, which is paper maching the basic shapes of the armor and the other Part 4 is using Fast Mache after the paper mache. I separated them so that if you already know how to use regular mache you can skip to the next part.

Here is the part 3 video of making Riven armor cosplay. In this video I am using regular mache to strengthen the props before I fast mache. It’s needed to give extra durability, cover the holes and smoothen joints. Create the paper mache paste with flour, water and glue. Cut strips of paper and dunk it into the paste and apply to the prop. Apply 3-4 layers of paper mache and dry between each layer. Keep in mind that the next step (Fast Mache) is what makes the prop heavier. The less holes filled by the fast mache the lighter it will end up being.

Here is part 4 video of making Riven armor cosplay. In this video I’m using the Fast Mache to plaster the prop up. This makes it durable and creates a armor like appearance. It’s really nice to paint on and makes a prop durable. Make sure to apply a layer around .5mm to 1 cm thick. It needs around a full day to dry and make sure it is completely dry before painting. If you want to have more information about the Fast Mache I used please see my previous post about using Activa’s Fast Mache for cosplay props.

Soraka Cosplay Makeup Tutorial

29 Aug

This look is based on Soraka’s original NA concept with a Chinese splash art influence. She is a blue, cursed, unicorn-like creature. According to her lore, she is “determined to once again be one with the stars”. Soraka’s abilities include astral blessing and starcall. I wanted to subtly reflect this stellar theme in the makeup. Sparkling silver glitter is packed densely on the eyelids. Particles also twinkle against the skin.

Soraka cosplayers generally take one of two approaches. The first is to use a blue face paint followed by standard makeup techniques. The second is to skip the face paint altogether. However, I prefer a third, unattractive approach which makes features appear less human. Start by altering the bone structure. A barely-there brow will prevent the face from appearing too masculine. I recommend utilizing the entire lid space to create a strong focal point.

This horn protrudes through the wig but you could try a lower position. Experimental makeup is so fun! I would love to see your Soraka cosplays.

Newspaper Nails

28 Aug

Hello GGG fans,

Listening to: Little Red Corvette – Prince

Here’s another simple nail design. Would only take about an hour or so to complete. I hope you try it out if you haven’t already :)

  • Paint your nails with preferred colour as your base
  • Allow coat/s to completely dry

  • Crumple newspaper into a ball
  • Apply a messy lacquer of contrast nail polish onto the cracks of the newspaper ball
  • Dab newspaper ball onto nails quickly. If you’ve applied too much nail polish onto your nail, while wet, dab a non-sodden part of the newspaper ball onto nail
  • Remove any excessive nail polish off skin with nail polish remover

  • Pour rubbing alcohol/vodka into shallow cup/bowl
  • Dip your nail in the rubbing alcohol/vodka until completely soaked or (as I found out easier at a later time) completely drench the newspaper strip into the rubbing alcohol/vodka

  • Apply sodden newspaper strip onto your nail
  • Press newspaper strip onto your nail for 30 – 60 seconds. Do NOT move the strip
  • Remove strip
  • Allow to dry for a minute
  • Apply top clear coats

And there you have it! As long as you have newspaper and rubbing alcohol or vodka ;) you can easily make salon look nails. Hope you try it :D

Quick and Easy to Make: Strawberry Tarts

27 Aug

Want to whip yourself up a quick dessert? These strawberry tarts are super easy to make and it’ll take less than an hour!

What You Will Need:

  • Pre-made tart shells
  • Strawberry cream cheese
  • Strawberry yogurt
  • Any of your favourite fruit to top it off!

First, take your pre-made tart shells and pop it in the oven to bake at 375 degrees for around 15 – 18 minutes for that crispy shell. You can find these pre-made tart shells at any grocery store in the frozen section. Be sure to allow the shells to cool a bit after baking so that it will not melt the filling.

Guild Wars 2: Early Play

26 Aug

Hi everyone!

As many of you know, the official release date for Guild Wars 2 is August 28, 2012.  For those that have pre-ordered the digital copy of the game, we get a 3 day head start!!  In my time zone, it started Saturday August 25, 2012 at around 3am.  I was really excited to play.  I was thinking about it all last week.  I know, nerdy right? LOL

I’m just going to show you all my character creation.

Races

There are 5 different races you can choose from:  Charr, Human, Norn, Asura, and Sylvari. Each is unique in look and other attributes.  Read below and see what makes each race unique.

Charr:
The charr—an aggressive feline race—have perfected the bloody art of war. While they are ruthless, relentless terrors to their enemies, charr are also brave allies who can form unbreakable bonds of loyalty.

When you create your charr character, you will become a member of one of the High Legions. Enlist in the Iron Legion, manufacturers of war machines and builders of the Black Citadel; join the shadowy ranks of the Ash Legion, practitioners of espionage and subterfuge; or become a soldier in the Blood Legion, lords of the battlefield’s front line. As your character increases in level, they will gain access to unique charr weaponry and the ability to call upon the power of their legion to crush their foes.

Your charr’s adventure begins in the rugged Plains of Ashford near the Black Citadel, stronghold of the Iron Legion. Here you begin the march toward your destiny, and woe betide those foolish enough to stand in your way!

Human:
The humans of Tyria are a proud but embattled race. Over the centuries, they have lost much of their land and have even lost their gods, but the resilient humans can adapt to seemingly any circumstances. Today, the human race maintains their unshakeable spirit in the face of harrowing adversity.

When you create your human character, you will pick your social class. Were you raised in high society? Perhaps you come from a hardworking middle-class background. Or did you grow up poor on the mean streets of Divinity’s Reach? As a human, you’ll also select one of the Six Gods as your patron—from Grenth, the god of death, to Lyssa, the goddess of illusions.

When your human character increases in level, they will gain access to a range of special racial skills granted to them by the Six Gods, such as summoning fearsome Hounds of Balthazar or beseeching the healing goddess Dwayna to restore your health.

Your story begins in Queensdale, a lush district of farmlands and rolling hills that lies in the shadow of the great walls of Divinity’s Reach. Here, you will answer the call to adventure and create a new legend in the history of your proud people.

Norn:
The norn are a valiant race of huge, shape-shifting barbarians that hail from the frozen north. Strong-willed, passionate, and brave to a fault, the fiercely independent norn swear fealty to no single being. Guided in this world by their Spirits of the Wild, which embody the virtues of the mightiest beasts, the norn see life as a grand adventure.

When you create your norn character, you will choose a Spirit of the Wild to follow. Will you harness the strength of Bear, run with the pack like Wolf, move with Snow Leopard’s cunning, or let the wisdom of Raven guide you? As your norn character increases in level, they will acquire the ability to shape-shift into an animalistic form based on your totem Spirit.

Your norn character’s adventure begins in the wild and dangerous Wayfarer Foothills, not far from the great hall of Hoelbrak, the largest norn settlement in the Shiverpeaks. It is here you will write the first chapter in your great saga—may the skaalds sing your praise!

Asura:
The diminutive asura are the smartest sentient beings in Tyria, as they will happily inform you. This race of small, long-eared mad scientists is uniformly brilliant, utilizing and analyzing magic itself for its inventions and research.

The most important decision any asura makes is which college to join. The College of Statics produces the builders and architects of the asura, creators of their incredible levitating structures. The College of Dynamics is made up of gizmo-makers with a bold, sometimes dangerously enthusiastic approach to science. The College of Synergetics concerns itself with more theoretical research and its members consider themselves the great thinkers among the asura.

Regardless of which college you choose, as your asura increases in level, they will gain access to a wide range of special skills that utilize the very latest in asuran technology. You’ll wade into the fray using a battlesuit, summon hulking golems to fight at your side, and commit other acts of alchemagical mayhem.

Your story begins in Metrica Province, a reclaimed jungle area filled with labs and rival krewes not far from Rata Sum. Here, you’ll find the first of many tests of your ambition and ingenuity. Will you seize the opportunity and invent a better future for the asura—and all Tyria?

Sylvari:
The sylvari are an enigma. Humanoid in form, plantlike in nature, they are recent arrivals in Tyria who have roamed the world for only 25 years. No one knows why they have suddenly appeared in Tyria, least of all the sylvari themselves, and they seek to discover their purpose in the world.

When you create your sylvari character, you will choose which time of day you awoke. Sylvari who rise in the Cycle of Dawn tend to be charming and diplomatic. Those of the Cycle of Day are usually bold problem-solvers that meet challenges head-on. The sylvari of the Cycle of Dusk tend to be intelligent and reflective. Those of the Cycle of Night are often secretive loners.

As you advance, you will gain access to a range of potent racial skills that allow you to harness the power of the natural world or call upon the Pale Tree itself for assistance.

Your story begins in the Dream itself, before you awake. If you successfully confront the shadow within the Dream, you will awaken, like all sylvari, in the Caledon Forest, under the Pale Tree. A new world of adventure, beauty, and danger awaits you!

Professions

There are 8 different professions that you can choose from:  Mesmer, Guardian, Necromancer, Ranger, Elementalist, Warrior, Thief, Engineer.

———————————

Originally in the beta I had gone with the Sylvari race.  They kind of look like plant people to me.  They are different and unique looking.  Their starting location is absolutely gorgeous as well.  If you like that fantasy like atmosphere and feel, this race has that.  I chose to play her as a Mesmer class.  I didn’t particularly like the Mesmer profession.  Not my play style.

Now that the official game has release, I have decided to go with the Norn.  I love playing elf races in all my mmo games, however they don’t have an elf race in Guild Wars 2.  I figured the Norn have that similar tall, and beautiful look to them,  minus the pointy ears of course.  I also like the fact that they can shapeshift later into an animal spirit!  Pretty cool :)   I made her as a Guardian.  So far I really like it.  Guardian can be melee, or ranged depending which weapon is equipped.  Your spells also change based on whether you are carrying a melee weapon (ex.  A Sword) vs a ranged weapon (ex. A Staff).  Below you can see how I made her:

Height, body physique, tattoos

Face

Hair Style

Face Details: Eyes, Nose, Lips, Jaw & Chin.
Change shape, size, placement, colours

You can also change and customize the colours of your gear.  I forgot to take screen shots of that process.

Starting location

Beautiful!

A human character I started

She’s sexy!

I feel like the Norn reminds of of Game of Thrones, and I am in Winterfell.  Is that just me? Hehe.
I’m debating whether to switch to Human.  The female Human’s have hot bodies and are super pretty.  Always a deciding factor for me when choosing a race. LOL

Hope you enjoyed and remember to comment below :)

Buskerfest and Taiwanfest

25 Aug

Hey Guys!

This weekend is a busy weekend in Toronto as there is the Buskerfest, Taiwanfest, Fan Expo, Import fest all happening at the same time in downtown Toronto! I went to Buskerfest on Thursday and Taiwanfest today. Coco and I will be going to Fan Expo tomorrow so if any of you guys are going we’ll see you there!

Buskerfest is basically a festival for street performers and it’s purpose is to raise awareness and donations for epilepsy. I went with my coworkers in the afternoon. We were split into teams and went on scavenger hunts XD. My team was batman themed!

We each wore a batman shirt and I also had my face painted with a bat!

We left from work around 2pm on Thursday to go to Buskerfest and it was already pretty busy!

Some street performers:

I thought the only thing Buskerfest was missing was food stands haha. But I got my share of food today at Taiwanfest. It was held at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto which was perfect because today was the perfect weather for going down to the harbour!

From this point on it will be just a bunch of food pictures, you have been warned!

We couldn’t find the Taiwanese stands at first so we stopped by the international section of Taiwanfest and got some food there. This is a churro (not sure if I spelled that right…). I think it’s supposed to be a Latin American snack?

We finally found the Taiwanese stands!

We were really hungry so we ended up getting too much food from the first vendor we lined up at… and was too full to buy more food haha. But the lineups were pretty long for each vendor so I guess I wasn’t too disappointed XD.

I’m not a big fan of intestines, but these cripsy fried intestines were actually really good!

The stinky tofu was so-so. But then again, I’m not a big fan of stinky tofu either =S.

But the best was definitely the Taiwanese style pork bun.

After eating the food, we decided to stop by Fan Expo to check it out. We didn’t go in, just took some pics outside the convention. I found a LoL cosplayer!

I can’t wait to go tomorrow with Coco! Will be posting pictures from Fan Expo so stay tuned!!

Funtime This Weekend, Guaranteed!

24 Aug

Heyoooo GGG Readers, happy happy Friday!

You may already have some wicked awesome plans for the weekend already, officially ending the summer with a bang! Here are some cool, cool things you should check out if you’ve got time on the weekend, or the next (long weekend!).

Want to go out?

FanExpo: August 23 – 26, Metro Toronto Convention Centre

It might not be a great idea to meander down to Toronto to try and get a ticket at the door and get in – most of the people planning to go probably has tickets well in advance! You know the deal! Biggest gathering of comic book, sci-fi, horror, a little bit of everything in Toronto every year! Unfortunately I’ve only gone once so far, there were way too many people there and I heard they had issues fitting everyone who had 3 day passes into the convention one year!

All in all, I’m sure it’s a blast every year!

Chilling with friends?

Gloom Card Game: The objective is to make your characters’ lives as miserable as possible before killing them off. If that did not sell the game for you then I don’t know what will.

It is a card game, and you try to make as many negative events happen to your characters’ family to accumulate negative amount of points (for once, it’s not good to get a high score!). The original set of cards can played by up to 5 people, but there are actually a lot of expansion packs for this card game – I’m surprised it’s so popular and I’ve only recently discovered it through a friend!

I played it once, I’m planning to play it again tonight with a couple of my friends – can’t wait, it’s super fun!

Staying at home?

Guild Wars 2: Headstart on August 25th if you have pre-purchased the game already! Go and explore 3 days before the rest of them suckers, bwa ah ah!

I’m still deciding on what class I want to be. I’m leaning towards Ranger I think? I also remember Engineers being really fun to play…argh! Decisions!

Still staying at home?

Sleeping Dogs: LOVE IT! GO PLAY IT!

I’ve only been able to play it for an hour, and I am hooked, I can’t wait to get back into the game, get back into the streets of Hong Kong as some tough triad man. You get to drive a minibus, what more could you ask for!?

Maybe I’m biased because I’m from Hong Kong, and I’m amazed at all the little details that I’m familiar with in game because they’re real! Only an hour in, I’m going to say that this will probably be one of my favourite games of all time – I’m a sucker for open world sandbox-y games like these.

I love the cantonese (and slang, heh) in it. Sometimes the phrases in the dialogue are kind of cheesy, but when you’re running around fighting, or you bump into someone when you’re walking…people be calling you PKs everywhere you go, how nice! :D Sorry for the language.

Anyway, hope you’re planning to check one of these out already, or have already played – whatever floats your boat, just have a great weekend! 8D

Last Summer Outdoor BBQ

23 Aug

Hello GGG Readers!

It’s almost the end of August, and that means Summer time is leaving soon T_T

It does get chilly during the night time, so I don’t wear short-shorts anymore.

My friends and I celebrated this moment with BBQ!

We went full out this time including sirlion beef, pork belly, tiger shrimp, mackerel, five-cheese sausage, spicy sausage, clam. And, we also grilled onions, garlics and kimchi because that’s how Koreans barbecue LOL

Between 6 people, we used two grills at Erindale Park, it’s located near University of Toronto Mississauga.

We were being silly and my friend pretended to be Slenderman with a paper plate in front of his face.

If you guys don’t know who Slenderman is, watch this video: [WARNING: If you're afraid of the dark or scary stuff, then don't click]

One of my friend bakes as a hobby and she brought us little treats for dessert.

It’s low-calorie, so it’s not as sweet but I like it how it is. On the plus side, it was homemade.

On a side note, the new patch 1.0.4 is now available on Diablo 3, followed by the Paragon system.

So, if you’re level 60 and bored of the game, keep playing! You’ll be reaching to paragon level which is available until 100. Challenging enough?

Riven Sword Cosplay Video Tutorial: Part 2

22 Aug

Hello Everyone!

Hope nobody was waiting too long for my next video! I’ve been so busy so I wasn’t able to finish my 2nd video early. Here is my Riven Sword Cosplay Video Tutorial: Part 2. This video I’m showing you how I build Riven’s sword with layers of foam board. It is a very similar process to my Riven Armor Cosplay Video Tutorial: Part 1, but making the sword instead of armor pieces.

Alright so here is a template I’ve create for all you Riven Cosplayers. Hopefully it works, it should be to size, if not open in a program and make sure it comes out 20″ wide and around 53″ tall. Let me know if you are having any problems. Just print it out on letter sized paper and then tape all the paper together to form the sword.

Here are the Photo steps of the video, Part 2 (For video scroll below):

As explained in the video the first part of the tutorial is making the basic shape of the sword. You need foam board bought from the dollar store, try to get it as cheap as possible. Feedback, comments and questions are welcomed. Please don’t hesitate to ask for any help or clarification. Here is the video, Hope you enjoy:

Click here for the next video, which is using fast mache on the armor pieces! So stay tuned and if you want to ask any detailed questions please ask below! Please also like our GGG Facebook Page for updates!
