Fish are Friends! Cerule, the Mystic Mermaid Art

15 Nov

Long time no see, GGG readers!!!

I’ve been away for awhile, thought I will drop by to post something I’ve finally got around to finishing!

Earlier on, Makeup Disguises had made a tutorial on how to cosplay as the lovely custom League of Legends champion Cerule – created by Nhan Pham. I was asked to do a drawing of my take on this champion. Voila! Here is the initial pencil sketch and the final coloured version of the Cerule, the Mystic Mermaid:

Sketched out on paper, scanned in and coloured in Photoshop CS5.

Here’s the link to the custom champion on League of Legends Wiki here. I’ve taken some liberties with the hovering fishes (now that I look back at them, they look like even weaker versions of Magikarp..baby Magikarp? LOL), it’s not really part of the original concept :D There was a hidden passive/interaction name that really stuck with me called, “Fish are Friends” – although it was supposed to be an interaction with Fizz, it just seemed kind of cute to have fishes chilling around her. :D

Edit: Whoa~ Kinda freaky timing that LoL posted the sneak peek today of their new champion Nami, who also happens to be a mermaid too!

Hope you enjoyed this! Feel free to leave a comment or some feedback, as always - please also “Like” us on Facebook if you’d like :) Thanks for reading!

r/sketchdaily & recent sketches

25 Sep

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I’ve come across a new subreddit on reddit called r/sketchdaily that hopefully I’ll be able to regularly contribute to whenever I can on my lunch breaks! :D

Everyday the mods post a new theme and an alternative theme and you can contribute a drawing to the thread, get some feedback, see what other people’s submissions are, etc!

So far I’ve participated in 2, then one that I forgot to submit in time.. but here are a couple sketches I’ve done recently!

Hope you enjoyed these, and find some time to check the subreddit out! Thanks for reading :)

Shining Beacons of Light of my Internet

17 Sep

Helloooo GGG Readers!

I’ve been caught up in some super tight deadline assignments these days, and it’s reminded me of how useful some of these links I’ve collected over the years has been for me when I needed to get something done but I wasn’t on my computer, or even when I wasn’t…they were just really nice to have!

Pixlr.comthe free online version of Photoshop – personally, this is so 10/10!

Sometimes some of us don’t want to go through the trouble of installing Photoshop on our computers when we just want to be able to do simple things with our photos but a step higher than MS Paint. Pixlr is your man. It literally looks like Photoshop, all you need is Java (I think) and internet, and you’re good to go!

They have 3 versions of Pixlr – a basic Photoshop, a more complex Photoshop, and one that plays with filters and vintage effects on our photos.

Dropboxcloud storage, access your files anywhere

The good thing is, you don’t even need to download the Dropbox software – just uploading through Dropbox.com is fine! Great place to store files that you need to access anywhere or if you don’t like emailing yourself files all the time.

Rasysa - enormous collection of current hairstyles from Japan

For me to actually sort of navigate through this site – I always relied on my Google Chrome to pop up the “Do you want to translate this site to English?” and I click Yes. It’ll give me a gist of what the hell I’m clicking at. I don’t know about you – but I always need to bring a picture of how I want my hair to look so I know that the hair stylist and I will 100% be on the same page. Super useful, beautiful hairs! My only sigh about this is that there are so many wavy hairstyles, I am too lazy to regularly curl my hair for those looks LOL

Here’s what the navigation kind of looks like once you translate it – there’s a lot of variety, but the english also doesn’t make sense. So please go through the site when you have ample time to kill! :D

And what else? Everyone’s got their go-to site for desktop wallpapers – here’s mine:

WallpapersWide.comhigh resolution, mostly widescreen wallpapers

Let me know if you have other wallpaper sites that would be better! No lie, I bookmarked this site instantly when I saw what popped up for stormtrooper wallpapers. Look at them.

Honorable mention: Fotologue.jp - japanese Flash-based photo sharing site

This is one of those sites that I log back into from time to time, but unfortunately I don’t have enough nice pictures to upload onto my own gallery – but I love the interface and the controls, and just the general look of this particular photo gallery site. Maybe if I took up photography more I’d be able to do this site more justice! Feel free to check this site out sometime!

That concludes my list so far! Hope you’ve found this helpful, and bookmarked one or two of them :)

Guild Wars 2: Ranger Pet Collection!

9 Sep

Hey everyone!

So I’ve been immersed into the Guild Wars 2 world as a ranger these couple weeks, and I just wanted to show you guys a couple of the pets that I have in my collection so far.

I don’t know about you, but when I first opened up the Pet Management screen and saw this, it was all GOTTA CATCH ‘EM ALL, POKEMON! and the funny thing is, when you switch between two pets, my character actually says, “I choose you!” LOL

So from this screenshot here, there are a possible 39 different pets that you can tame with a press of a button (literally). No need to beat them until they’re at low health for them to obey you – you go to the area that you will be able to find a “Juvenile” version of them and press F, or whatever key you set your Tame action to. Then VOILA THEY ARE YOURS! :D

I used this link to find most of my pets – the maps really help to make it easier!

The pets match your level no matter when you tame it, so you don’t have to spend time trying to level up different pets to use. I was SO freaking glad about this because I didn’t want to have to grind for long long times just so I can use it.

One downside I found was that you’re not allowed to control what skill you can cast, you only have one and the other 3 are cast whenever your pet feels like. Sometimes your pets are dumb, and cast the wrong things at the wrong time.

Below are the 2 pets that I use regularly! The polar bear and the… pig.

My polar bear is my main and I use it for tanking – there are a couple more types of bears but I generally liked all the “wintery” animals, so I went with the polar bear :D It’s got a bit more attach power than my starting Brown Bear pet (you can see its stats later in the post). The cast-able skill is a roar that chills all nearby foes, slowing their movement down.

This pig, why am I even using this?

Honestly, it’s just because it’s adorable :) it’s funny walking around with a pig beside you. This pig was actually pretty useful at times because it headbutts enemies and knocks them down! I wish it was a bit more tankier, but it’s okay. It’ll do. The pig, as well as all the other boar pets (I think), have the amazingly useless cast-able skill of going off and finding impromptu weapons for you. I never use it, I just let it do its headbutting thing, it works out.

Here are the rest of the pets that I like and want to point out – I’ve put the screenshot of what they look like as well as their stats – they’re only level 53 stats so it’s not the end game final numbers, but it gives you an idea of how the ratios are between the attack, vitality, precision, etc.

Also at the bottom of the window, where I charmed it so you can go to that area and catch yourself one as well!

Arctodus – Half wolf half bear?

Brown Bear – My human starter pet

Fern Hound

Lynx

Owl – It’s Hedwig! Hahahhaa

Pink Moa – also known as a Flamingo

White Moa

Snow Leopard

Shark. A SHARK.

Pets are divided into Terrestrial (land pets), Amphibious (land & water) and Aquatic (water). So water pets will only appear when you jump into water. You can have a Shark as a pet, and  jellyfish. Too awesome!!

Hope you found those screenshots and this post helpful! I personally like to see what pets look like because I go look for them, but they’re easy to obtain and are all free so I’m not too picky!

Let me know if you have any questions, feedback, anything!

Adorable “Living” Game: Glitch

1 Sep

Hey GGG Readers!

There’s a game that I was absolutely in love with maybe a year or so ago when it first game out, it was called “Glitch” – you might have heard about it before, or maybe you’re hearing about it the first time! I just wanted to share it with you because although I’ve moved onto other games right now (Guild Wars 2), I like to log on from time to time to check out new updates and how animals are doing.

I thought the best part of Glitch was the fact that it was purely a browser-based game, all you needed was Flash installed and internet and you’re good to go – no need to worry about having to install it wherever you are – you just go to Glitch.com and you’re good to go!

Glitch is like a farming, “living” kind of game where there isn’t really an end game goal – you just play it however you want to play it. By that, I mean there’s a huge skill tree – and you can excel in whatever you’re interested in doing…or learn all of them if you got time! LOL

One thing that I LOVED was the funny dialogue in-game, as well as in your skill descriptions. Here’s a snapshot of what one of the skills look like – this one is under the “Animal Kinship” tree where you specialize in being able to squeeze chickens/nibble pigs/milk butterflies (wut) more as your skill gets higher.

For those of you who like to customize your character (I know I do!), you are able to customize what you look like as well as buy pretty clothes for your Glitch!

That is me up there with a sushi suit and some badass bunny slippers! Unfortunately a majority of the clothes you have to pay money for or is for free if you have a subscription to the game – I think new users are all given 100 credit when they first start off, so you’re still able to buy a couple of things! A sushi suit man, I was SOLD.

In-game time! What does it look like in-game! This game is a side-scrolling game, with little directional posts to move into the next street. You have a bar at the bottom for all your inventory, and on the right hand side that I forgot to include is a chat area as well as shortcuts to teleporting to areas or going to your own home.

This is me in my home! Everyone gets a home – though I preferred it back then when you had to purchase your own home through Glitch’s house listings, it felt like a real estate market haha, so competitive! You also have the options to upgrade and pretty up your home  - right now mine is a bit run-down.

World map local maps below:

Various in-game activities, chicken squeezing, pig nibbling, you know! Oh right, you can also name these animals, even if they’re the ‘public’ ones that roam the streets…or capture them to put back in your home! Bwa ah ah!

I could keep going with more things that you can do (I haven’t even covered the different equipments and food you can make and furniture and EVERYTHING!), but it’s better if you just go in and check it out for yourself, see if you like it!

It seems a bit overwhelming at first because of all the skills you can go into, but it’s a cute little game that you can go back to whenever you’d like! This is one of those games that have a special place in my heart, and I know I’ll probably pick it back up to play after a couple years!

Anyhoo, thanks for reading! Show us some love, as always - “Like” us if you like us :) Feel free to ask me more questions about the game or leave some feedback before you leave!

Funtime This Weekend, Guaranteed!

24 Aug

Heyoooo GGG Readers, happy happy Friday!

You may already have some wicked awesome plans for the weekend already, officially ending the summer with a bang! Here are some cool, cool things you should check out if you’ve got time on the weekend, or the next (long weekend!).

Want to go out?

FanExpo: August 23 – 26, Metro Toronto Convention Centre

It might not be a great idea to meander down to Toronto to try and get a ticket at the door and get in – most of the people planning to go probably has tickets well in advance! You know the deal! Biggest gathering of comic book, sci-fi, horror, a little bit of everything in Toronto every year! Unfortunately I’ve only gone once so far, there were way too many people there and I heard they had issues fitting everyone who had 3 day passes into the convention one year!

All in all, I’m sure it’s a blast every year!

Chilling with friends?

Gloom Card Game: The objective is to make your characters’ lives as miserable as possible before killing them off. If that did not sell the game for you then I don’t know what will.

It is a card game, and you try to make as many negative events happen to your characters’ family to accumulate negative amount of points (for once, it’s not good to get a high score!). The original set of cards can played by up to 5 people, but there are actually a lot of expansion packs for this card game – I’m surprised it’s so popular and I’ve only recently discovered it through a friend!

I played it once, I’m planning to play it again tonight with a couple of my friends – can’t wait, it’s super fun!

Staying at home?

Guild Wars 2: Headstart on August 25th if you have pre-purchased the game already! Go and explore 3 days before the rest of them suckers, bwa ah ah!

I’m still deciding on what class I want to be. I’m leaning towards Ranger I think? I also remember Engineers being really fun to play…argh! Decisions!

Still staying at home?

Sleeping Dogs: LOVE IT! GO PLAY IT!

I’ve only been able to play it for an hour, and I am hooked, I can’t wait to get back into the game, get back into the streets of Hong Kong as some tough triad man. You get to drive a minibus, what more could you ask for!?

Maybe I’m biased because I’m from Hong Kong, and I’m amazed at all the little details that I’m familiar with in game because they’re real! Only an hour in, I’m going to say that this will probably be one of my favourite games of all time – I’m a sucker for open world sandbox-y games like these.

I love the cantonese (and slang, heh) in it. Sometimes the phrases in the dialogue are kind of cheesy, but when you’re running around fighting, or you bump into someone when you’re walking…people be calling you PKs everywhere you go, how nice! :D Sorry for the language.

Anyway, hope you’re planning to check one of these out already, or have already played – whatever floats your boat, just have a great weekend! 8D

Swords, Swords Everywhere

16 Aug

GGG Readers!

Sometimes you might be wondering how some champions are carrying so many items onto battle, or why they’re evening buying them in the first place. Take Ashe for instance – like what does she need all those swords for?

There are a total of 5 items I included, can you spot them all? I should’ve included another one to make 6, aw!

I KNOW, I know, I’m kind of late with this, and it might be overplayed already (there are probably many variations of this out there). But I really wanted to put it on paper because it was really bugging me! So what happens after she fires all of the swords out? I guess she picks them off the dead bodies when they’re dead – oho ho ho ho! Okay I’ll stop now.

I’m working on a similar drawing but with Brand in it! Stay tuned! Don’t forget to “Like” us if you like us! Have a nice day thank you very much!

Rosy Buy! Fossil Mini Dylan Watch

10 Aug

Hello hello!

I bought my first feminine watch last week! The last watch I bought was very boyish and I wanted it to match with my boyfriend’s, and now I realize it was WAY huge, my wrist was like , “yo for real”…now I actually don’t know where I stowed it.

Anyway! The watch I bought is from Fossil, it is the Mini Dylan Watch in Rose.

Now I don’t know if rose gold watches are a thing now or I’m late to the party about this or whatever, but I see a lot of brands selling them! Unfortunately, oversized watches are also a thing too, and I have really tiny wrists so Fossil was pretty much the only place I found watches that fit me.

Below is the glamour shot of the watch on the Fossil website, compared to the watch in real life.

The glamour shot doesn’t actually show much of how the watch looks like in real life – I actually didn’t like this watch until I found it in the store! That’s why you can never trust those pictures of products online…at least for watches!

Fossil watches come with a free tin box that you get to pick out of a collection, and they help to adjust the links of the band right then and there. If you decide that you want to add/remove another link later on, you just have to bring it to a Fossil store and they’ll do it for free for you.

Because I came from wearing this dark, tomboy-ish watch, I really didn’t want a watch that was blinging with crystals/rhinestones, and not even a shiny band, which is hard to come by because usually stainless steel bands are chromed up. This was probably one of the only watches they had in their collection that had a matte band, which I loved! My only complaint is that the band looked slightly more yellow gold than rose gold, but I’m cool with it.

You press the little button on the side of the clasp to open it, and it snaps shut. I kind of wish it had the second buckle bit to secure it!

You’re probably wondering how big this watch is – well, according to the site, the circumference is 175mm. What does that mean in real life? Here’s a more practical representation – the watch face part is about the size of a toonie.

All in all, I love the watch! I’m so glad I didn’t the smaller watches with the shiny bands and opted for a larger watch – no buyer’s remorse, whoopee!

Wallpaper-ized Drawings!

6 Aug

Helloooo everyone!

I’ve taken some of the higher resolution drawings that I’ve done in the past and resized them as 1920 x 1200 wallpapers!

One of them, the one with the classy gentleman on a bicycle, was a design I thought of submitting as a Threadless T-Shirt design (posted about it here) – what do you guys think? I’ll probably tweak it to look cooler on a t-shirt, but I don’t know if it’s cool enough to wear! :D

They’re all in 1920 x 1200 resolution – hope you like them!

Championette

Ice Cream Man

Gentleman Rainbow

Let me know if you’d like a different size for another resolution or maybe for your phone!

Innisfree Natural Essential Masks Review

29 Jul

Hello hello again!

Awhile ago my boyfriend took a trip to Korea for a friend’s wedding, and he came back with a crapload of Innisfree facial masks. The people helping him at the store were really generous with free samples!

I think I finally gotten around trying out each type he brought back, so I thought I’d share with you my take on some of the Innisfree Natural Essential Masks!

How to use:
Unfold it out from the package and put it on your face, leaving it for 15-20 minutes. After 15-20 minutes, peel off and massage the remaining liquid into your face as if it was a moisturizer.

Personally, I put on toner before I put the mask on, and once I’m finished, I don’t use my moisturizer because my face is moisturized enough from the mask. I try to use the masks 1-2 times a week!

Onwards with the descriptions of each mask!

Skin Moisture & Nourishment  - These masks are supposed to provide moisture and nutrients (vitamins) to your skin.

  • Avocado: Replenishes nutrition and moisture deep within your skin by protecting and presenting a smooth appearance.
  • Honey: Protects your healthy skin by providing rich nutrition and intensive moisturizing effects.
  • Shea Butter: Moisture and nourishment to rough and dry skin.

Skin Moisture Only - masks that are all about moisture for dry skin, giving you a dewy look haha :D

  • Bamboo: Quenches your thirsty skin by providing ample moisture. (Just writing what’s at the back of the package!)
  • Cucumber: Targets devitalized skin by providing your skin with outstanding soothing effects and moisture.
  • Oatmeal: Targets sensitive and dry skin by providing a comfortable moisture protection barrier.

I don’t remember a particular one that stood out from this set, but I found that you have to be careful with some of them because they are really watery so the liquid from the masks start to drip after awhile. Keep a tissue handy!

Skin Tone & Texture Restoration - these masks cater to brightening your skin tone, firming your skin, and some help restore/regenerate your skin so it helps to fade away blemishes.

  • Pomegranate: Offers resilience and radiance deep within your skin with rich vitamin K ingredients.
  • Carrot: Restores and recovers your damaged skin with rich vitamin A ingredients.
  • Cabbage: Soothes and fortifies tired and damaged skin.
  • Grape: Smooths and softens dry and flaky skin.
  • Acai Berry: Provides outstanding antioxidant effects, offering a brighter skin tone.
  • Lemon: Moistens and illuminates your skin tone with rich vitamin C ingredients.

My own opinion:

Below is just a before and after picture of me after using a Carrot facial mask. It doesn’t seem like my skin changed a whole lot in the picture but my skin felt a lot softer after I was finished!

  • I believe all of the facial masks will give you moisturizing results, some being more effective than others  - personally I think avocado was the one of the most moisturizing, and on the other hand, shea butter was mediocre with moisturizing (which is strange, I thought shea butter would be one of the top ones).
  • My favourite out of  all the masks is carrot! My skin feels the most soft and moisturized after using a carrot mask. For blemishes though, I can’t say for sure that these helped to fade them because I’ve been using them infrequently during the summer right now.
  • Masks I would not buy again: Shea butter, pomegranate, grape – they’re not as effective on doing what their descriptiosn say, so I rather buy more of my favourite ones because they make my skin feel so nice!
  • The masks don’t smell particularly strong of what they’re supposed to be – they all have a similar fragrant smell to it with a hint of their ingredient. Grape smelled like faint wine, I remember that one!

Where to Buy? I don’t know where to specifically buy these masks online because they were brought over from Korea…but if you could ask someone to buy some for you there, it seems like a better deal if they stack on free samples or extra masks like that!

Anyway! Hope you enjoyed this review, let me know if you have any questions and comments about this! Feel free to “Like” us on Facebook, have a great Sunday :) Thanks!
