The Simpsons Heads Nails

24 May

D’oh GGG decorators,

Listening to: The Simpsons Theme Song

So, I have been obsessed with The Simpsons: Tapped Out. It’s mobile game app similar to Sims. I’ll be posting about it very soon so I’ll talk about the details then. But to show you my new app craze, I wanted to design one of the most famous family on television: the Simpsons.

20130519_215421

1. As a base coat, use Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Hot Magenta to simulate The Simpsons painted house walls. For the fore finger, I only painted less than half of the nail as I intended to paint Marge’s large blue hair.

2. With a fine nail art brush, outline the shape of each of the Simpsons characters head onto each nail

20130519_220428 20130519_220435

3. Paint each outline with Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Mellow Yellow except for Marge’s hair. Simply use Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Blue Me Away

4. Outline each of the heads with a bended nail art detail brush and black nail polish. Don’t forget to add Maggie’s bow

5. To seal polish, paint two layers of clear base coat

I hope you enjoyed my Simpsons head nails. Be expected a few more Simpsons designs! I’m sure hooked on The Simpsons: Tapped Out

Faye Valentine

18 May

Hi everyone!

I drew Faye from Cowboy Bebop the other day! :9 I never really liked Faye that much at the beginning but she grew on me later on. The drawing was a bit spontaneous. I started with a loose sketch.
Fayesketch

After that I proceeded to do the line art and coloring in Paint Tool Sai.

Here’s the finished result. It was fun to draw, even though I really hate doing line art digitally. I’m still trying to find my own style so I’m trying different things to see which one I like doing the most.

Zelda

20 Apr

Hi everyone!

I’ve recently started to play Majora’s Mask and that has really inspired a whole bunch of Zelda fan work. It has been a while since I’ve played Zelda or even drawn any Zelda related work so it’s really good to get back to it. It’s one of my favorite game series, after all. :)

ZELDA

Here’s Goron Link for you. I don’t think he gets enough love, lol. It’s really funny how his finishing ‘punch’ is actually a butt attack so I decided to draw that.

Do you like Zelda games? Which one is your favorite?

Making a (Calvin and Hobbes) Hobbes Stuffed Animal

17 Apr

Hello Everyone!

I was asked by a friend to make a Hobbes stuffed animal, and there is this perfect tutorial. Everything and all credit goes to this tutorial by Seamster! You can download a pattern to follow and print it out and easily make yourself one. Apparently Calvin and Hobbes never licensed so they don’t sell any of these stuffed animals. I do admit it was a lot more tedious than I thought it would be.

I was really happy with the pattern and they did a great job in make it fit properly and easy to make and understand. Here are the pieces separated out:

1Pieces
Here is the nose being constructed! I stuffed it a lot! I liked the nose as big as possible XD.
StuffingtheMouthWhen I was reading the tutorial, I was surprised the buttons were sanded down.. I didn’t like the idea at first but it worked out! I had to use a black marker to cover the white part:
SandingtheeyesAfter the eyes were shaped and done I put on the stripes! I was really tedious and took a really long time to do. Don’t forget, this is all done by hand! I shrunk the pattern than the original size, I wanted a smaller version.
Duringfrontandback
Here is the final front and back! I was really happy with the turn out! It was exactly as theirs which I liked.
FinalfrontandbackHere is the photo of mine next to theirs :D .
Finshed
Please remember that she created the pattern so you can go to the link above and make your own! I really enjoyed making it, and I want to use it maybe to make a league stuffed animal XD… What you think? Should I try to make a champion?

Dandelion Nails

12 Apr

Allu GGG nailers,

Listening to: Asleep – The Smiths

Here’s a little spring time nail design. Kinda reminds me of that scene in Beauty and the Beast where Belle is singing as she watches the dandelion float into the sunset sky lol. I’m lame :P

20130326_211114

1. Apply clear top coat as base coat

2. Paint two layers of base nail colour (Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow)

20130326_215202

3. On a cosmetic sponge, apply a layer of the base colour (Mellow Yellow)

4. While base colour is still wet, apply a layer of second nail colour (Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Mauve It)

20130326_215115

5. Dab sponge onto nails multiple times until nail is completely covered to create a gradient effect

20130326_220939

6. Nail art brush bent detail

20130326_221001

7. Using black nail polish and nail art brush bent detail paint a slight curve and paint at the top of the curve a horizontal stud on the thumb and ring finger

20130326_223727

8. With white nail polish paint short streaks at the top of the stem and across the fore finger and middle finger

9. Apply a clear top coat times two

And here’s my first spring design.

Lulu

6 Apr

Hi everyone~!

It’s time for some fan art! Have some Lulu. Did the lines in pencil and added color in Photoshop.

lulu_20130325_web

I’m hoping to do more of these in the future. We’ll see. :3 My summer vacation is right around the corner so I’ll be able to draw more of my own stuff (and play more games). So exciting!

Cupcake Shaped Cake Balls

22 Mar

Hi hi GGG fans,

Listening to: Lullaby - The Cure

So, I’ve been experimenting with the chocolate covered cake balls I’ve been making. I was hoping to design them differently but I was pressed for time and haven’t perfected them. So, here’s my cupcake shaped cake balls.

20130306_204649This is a plastic cupcake moulding I purchased from Bulk Barn

20130306_205945Pour melted chocolate wafers into bottom half of cupcake mould

Allow to cool but not completely

20130306_210424

Place cake balls (this is red velvet cake flavour) into each moulding while chocolate is semi-hard. To know how to make cake balls refer to my earlier post: Homemade Chocolate Cover Balls

Let chocolate completely cool in refrigerator

20130306_210826

20130306_210839

Slowly push out of the chocolate covered cake balls out of the moulding

20130306_213042

In the top half of the moulding pour a different colour of melted candy wafers (I simply uses white chocolate wafers. You can also put sprinkles onto the moulding before pouring chocolate)

While semi-cooled place bottom half of cupcake cake ball onto top half of cupcake moulding

Let cool in refrigerator

20130307_203629

Simply pop cupcake cake balls out from moulding

Enjoy!

Pax East Preparations: LoL The Laser Cutter

21 Mar

Hello Everyone,

My post today is kind of an update/mess of everything I’m currently doing. I’m so busy with end of the term projects at school so I decided I wouldn’t rush my costume for Pax East. So I am still working on my Cosplay, but very slowly. I got the fabric and started the body suit pattern! Here is a small preview of the upcoming Diana cosplay post:

PreviewUpcomingpost  Otherwise I was working on a new project for Pax East since I knew I wasn’t able to make the cosplay. I made two different designs for the laser cutter! A laser cutter can cut most materials, including wood, cardstock and leather. I wanted to try to make a cropped top with leather with cut outs. I kind of failed, but here was my experience with it.

There were the two designs I made, but I only picked one to use:

FinalJannaJepgJEPG2ndthingy

I ended up choosing the Janna only cut out. It seemed more likeable even though the other one took way more work -_-. There are a lot of ways I changed things so that it would connected the leather parts. Here is a test i did before. I did an engrave and cut test. The engraving turned out kind of ugly so I decided to try the cut one.

Lasertest

Here is the final result. Something I should have done, was print it out and measure it along my chest -_-. I measured the distance and made it exactly the distance I was going to make the shirt. So its really big, I don’t know if I can make a top out of it still.

Supportcutout

I’m kind of sad I screwed it up and I can’t redo it. I might try to make the cut out go across my side so that its kind of a style. I also might put lace under to support the letters more, because standing up some parts fall over. If I do end up making the top, I’ll post it here later today =). It’s pretty cool to laser cut! You can find one in Toronto and its about  a dollar a minute, and this took the laser cutter 5 mins to make. Try it if you have access to one!

Otherwise I will take lots of photos at Pax! I’m excited to go!
