Blade & Soul Cosplay: Blade Master

5 Jul

I’m kind of late to the party with posting my cosplay from Anime North 2012, so I hope you guys don’t mind! It’s one of my favourite cosplays I’ve done so far and I love the game (Okay I know it’s not even released yet…but I love the artist! Props to Hyung Tae-Kim)

This year I cosplayed as a Blade Master from the upcoming Korean mmo, Blade & Soul!

Here is the picture of the original concept art:

And here is my costume below!

The two pieces of the costume that took the longest were the hip capes and the armour pieces (well, actually the whole thing took me awhile because I’m not really good/efficient with sewing clothes together either!).

Sorry I don’t really have any pictures of the whole process, but I have a couple for the capes!

I drew the stencil on bristol board and just cut out the pieces with an exacto knife – it’s a lot easier with a sharp blade! The hard part was planning which areas were to be cut out so they don’t mix up with each other. After I finished cutting it, I put it on top of the fabric and spray painted it on! One thing to keep in mind is to make sure your fabric isn’t the type to bleed, because for mine, the edges weren’t as crisp as I wanted them to be and sort of blurred a bit.

As for my armor pieces, I cut out the general base shape and used GREAT STUFF Spray Foam to spray on the general shape and sculpted away. I only knew about the spray foam from Coco because of her progress pictures, it looked really useful for armor pieces and she was able to sculpt out any shape she wanted to!

After that, it was a couple layers of paper mache so I have a surface to paint on, and then mad painting with acrylic paint.

Another picture of my friend who was a Bloodmoon Akali and I.

Like” us if you like us :) Leave a comment, a feedback or questions if you want to ask me about how I made something in my cosplay – hope you liked it!

The final outcome of Akali cosplay

29 May

So….when i first started on my weapons, I was so excited! Here’s a recap of what i did:

1) Tracing the stencil

2) Carving the stencil using foam board

3) Spray foaming the weapons

4) carved the spray foam to shape the weapon but I ended up shaving a bit too much… After, I had some help from Boss_Emily while I was away on vacation and she paper mached the weapons for me

5) Waiting for it to dry…

6) This was the final outcome of Nurse Akali…Didn’t turn out as I expected though. Had to use cloth to wrap it around so that it could hold the top. We used a bit too much paper mache and it got heavy. Looking forward to next year’s Anime convention!

Akali cosplay part 3

13 May

So Anime North is coming up in 2 weeks….I’m trying to finish up my weapons with the finishing touches but good thing my costume is DONE!!! Or should I say…it arrived! :P Since I’m doing a cosplay of Nurse Akali, I was able to order this costume online since it looked like her anyways! Cutesauce helped me find this costume on ebay…we also had to order the stockings as well which was easy to find on ebay.

Check out the pics!

You guys probably would want to see me in the costume…but just come back in 2 weeks and you’ll be able to see a ton of pics. For now, this is all you’re seeing :P

Akali Mask and Eye Makeup

4 May

I will be gradually uploading old videos with additional written commentary.
Components: flu mask, eye shadows, Graftobian Mixing fluid

When many people envision Akali, they imagine a ninja who wears a mask and no makeup. This was my belief until I took a closer look at the classic NA splash art. Riot did an excellent job by incorporating rich red melon tones around her lids. Red and green are complementary pairs. This choice makes Akali’s eyes appear brighter. If red is not your color then I would recommend applying black eyeliner to create almond-shaped eyes. Most importantly, have fun!

Long weekend is over and BACK TO WORK!

9 Apr

I hope everyone’s Easter weekend went swell! I’ve been so busy these past couple of days. Today’s post I was going to showcase a piano video but I had no time to record myself, so I’ll show you what I’ve been able to do for my cosplay of Akali. So earlier on, I showed you guys my weapons. Since then I’ve covered them with foam and the next step is to cut it and paint it. My friend in the meantime has helped me with Akali’s costume herself and I can say I’m pretty much ready for ANIME NORTH! I’m so excited for this, this will be my first time at this convention so I don’t know what to expect, but I’m sure it’ll be a lot of FUN!!!

Take a look at my weapons!
