See  Shyvana Cosplay: Part 1 (Helmet and horns)/Part 2 (Arm pieces) /Part 3 (Top armor) Part 4 (Sewing)/ Final update (everything without paint)

20 days left until Anime North! It is also the countdown to when you will see all of our GGG’s cosplays done! That’s Katarina, Riven, Annie, and Akali. I hear strange whispers of darkness! Hmm, what could that mean? I gotta get going on this cosplay, I’ve been taking my sweet time. Here is my progress update:

Here is how my bottom armor is going, I’m having a hard time figuring out how to attach things and make them close to my body as possible. I really don’t want these armor pieces floating on my body, hopefully I can figure something out that it stays on top of my thighs:

Here are the shyvana accessories! The gloves are hard to make out, but they are definitely are there. I got the gloves from Value Village for $3.99! I will be cutting holes for the knuckles and making it as close as possible to the in-game model’s gloves.

Value Village is decent second hand store to find cosplay accessories or help with the start of a prop. You can be ether really lucky, or find nothing at all. Here are the boots I found for Shyvana’s boots. They were $12.99 and are actually really cute. I’m pretty sad I’ll have to cut them up and paint them over. I think I’m going to use foam board and Instant mache for those detailed lines.

Shyvana’s make up: Graftobian Make-Up Company

As I mentioned from the last post I ordered make from the  Graftobian Make-Up Company (USA Website)  recommended by Makeup Disguises. I was at first disappointed because the website wouldn’t accept my credit cards, so I messaged the company from their “contact” section. I tried to order on Saturday, so I got a reply in the morning of Monday. They were prompt, understanding and very helpful. Apparently I was suppose to order from SKS Makeup (Canada Website) because that is the Canadian supplier. Usually they send the products to these locations in Canada, and then you can pick it up there. I was very stressed out by the whole process and I mentioned I was in a rush. They gave me a one time favor and sent it directly from the distributer and it came within 2 days! I am completely satisfied with their customer service and felt like a valued customer. So far, for their customer service I recommend them. In total it cost me $48.44, but with shipping $63.61. I think that is a very reasonable price for everything I got. Keep in mind that I also got too much setting powder.

This is the body colour I need:

Here is what the test colour looked like. I was very pleased because it actually looks like the colour off of the site. I hate when you see a nice colour online and then it looks completely different in person. I was even more lucky that they had Shyvana’s colour. Sorry the colour doesn’t show very well in this photo:

Once I try out the product, I will do a Makeup review for  the Graftobian Make-Up CompanyIf I am happy with the product I will also explain in detail what I used and how much I used.

That is all for now. If you are bored, check out this video of this gliche that keeps happening to me in League of legends! It’s been happening to me ever since the last patch. Grrr! I hope all is well for all of our followers and  visitors!

Stay tuned <3.

Riven Cosplay Part 3

26 Apr

For previous progress: Part 2 | Part 1

Hello everyone~!

I finally have enough progress to show you an update on my Riven cosplay.  I’ve been super busy with school and exams, so it was hard for me to work on my cosplay consistently.

Here are 2 videos of my progress summarized with my voice description.

This post I’ll be updating you guys on my sword progress.  So far I have cut out my sword (wood and foam boards), carved it, wired it (no LEDs yet), and started the paper mache process.  To cut out the shape of the sword, I used my printed out exported model of her sword and traced it onto a thin sheet of plywood.  I did the same with two foam boards taped together (one board was not long enough).  I then used a hot glue gun to glue the layers together.  The wood layer is sandwiched between multiple layers of foam board.

For some of the foam boards, I cut out a rectangle to accommodate the battery I will be using to power my LEDs.

After this was completed, the fun part began~!!  I took an exacto knife to carve the shape of the sword and the runes into either side.  I used a pencil to sketch out the runes first, and also details of the sword.  I had to also remove one layer of foam board for the middle part of the sword, which is slightly lower.  This turned out to be a bit difficult due to the dried hot glue gun holding the layers together.  I should have planned this part a bit better.

After everything was carved and shaped, I then cut out channels for the wires to run through.  I then used the hot glue gun to glue the wires into place.

Next step was to start the paper mache process.  I ran out of the previous Fast Mache I was using for my armor pieces, and decided to try a different brand of instant paper mache.  I bought the 5lb bag of the brand called:  Celluclay.

I hope you guys enjoyed this update.  Will be posting more updates in the upcoming weeks :)

Shyvana Cosplay Part 2

7 Apr

Hello all!

Here are the arm pieces for my shyvana cosplay. I was not able to finish the right arm piece completely. It took me longer than I expected, so you’ll be seeing it partly finished. I will update my post when it is completely done, but for now only the left arm is complete. The right arm still needs some more mache and  sanding. I thought the head piece would be harder than the arm pieces but I guess I was wrong -_-.

Hope you enjoy!

Forming shape out of foam board:

Using spray foam:

Carving the foam to desired shape:

Using paper mache to cover the holes, and then using fast mache for finish:

Right arm with fast mache:

Left arm sanded:

“Come get a glimpse into the belly of the beast!”

Let me know if you anything looks weird, or if I should change anything! I noticed I may have made the pieces too big? or the top pieces don’t look high enough? I probably won’t change it though, as I’ve already covered it and almost finished it. I do know that there is a diamond shape missing on the nose of the head. It will be added!

Next I will make the top armor piece with shoulder armor!

Riven Cosplay

5 Apr wpid-420515.jpeg

Hi Everyone!

Anime North is coming up at the end of May!! I’m super excited.  Pre-orders are already almost sold out!!  A bunch of us are cosplaying as a group this year as League of Legends Champions.  This is my second time cosplaying, and my first time actually spending time to make a good cosplay.  I’ve decided to cosplay as Riven, the Exile.  I made this choice purely because of the fact that I think she looks cool…. Haha.  I’m more of a ranged AD carry type of player in game.

Here’s her splash page:

This is a sketch I drew out of what I need to make:

I’ve decided to start on the armor pieces first.  I made them both out of cardboard first.  I then applied a base layer of newspaper paper mache.  I then applied instant paper mache.

Next steps include sanding, and then painting.  Check back for more progress of my cosplay <3

Also, if any of you are attending Anime North this year, be sure to come say hi to us!
