Cerule Cosplay Makeup – Custom League of Legends Champion by Nhan Pham

30 Sep

Cerule, The Mystic Mermaid, is a bubbly character. She is youthful, kind, and fun. Since her face is very natural, I decided to keep this tutorial simple. Drawing markings on the lash line directly below the irises creates an illusion of very wide eyes. I used three blue eye shadows  to reflect her connection to the sea. 14 individual eyelashes are glued to the inner 2/3 of the eyes. The outer third are abstract paper lashes designed by Paperself. These fantasy-like eyelashes were made popular by Effie Trinket in the Hunger Games movie. A pair costs $9 at Sephora. The contouring is exaggerated from the eyebrows to the nasal bridge to prevent the nose from getting lost behind the long, wispy bangs. Aside from that area, I tried to keep the look soft.

Thanks to Nhan Pham for creating Cerule! You can listen to her voice, check out conceptual art, read her lore, and analyze her kit on the League of Legends Wiki:

Zyra Cosplay Makeup Tutorial with Poison Ivy Influence

14 Sep

Many products are boxed in plastic packaging. Create a plastic wing that follows the curve of your eyebrows. I attached a sunset red glitter with clear nail polish. Ana Arthur (
http://www.youtube.com/user/anaarthur81
) has an excellent tutorial covering this technique. I borrowed hints from Batman and League of Legends to create this look.

Revlon Precision Lash Adhesive is my prefered cosmetic glue. Zyra has fierce eyes. I painted a stripe of gold around the lashes to acknowledge her yellow sclera. The splash art is somewhat sinister. To counterbalance the  heavy glittery plastic, I extended the red eye shadow far below the eyelid. A trio of eyelashes intensifies the look. Zyra is a predatory plant, not a woodland fairy! This cosplay demands a dramatic lip. I patted cosmetic glitter over my lips to unify the look. After your photo shoot, be careful to remove any lip makeup before eating or drinking.

Reduce some of the red tones and you will look more like Poison Ivy. You could stipple a hint of leaf green face paint or add some free-flowing vines around the chest.I generally perceive Poison Ivy as a greener character than Zyra. Batman & Robin, Arkham Asylum, and the animated series show different designs for the villainess. Abuse your artistic license to create a special look that suits your taste!

Riven Armor Cosplay Video Tutorial: Part 3 & 4

30 Aug

Hello Everyone!

Today I’ll be posting two videos. One will be Part 3, which is paper maching the basic shapes of the armor and the other Part 4 is using Fast Mache after the paper mache. I separated them so that if you already know how to use regular mache you can skip to the next part.

Here is the part 3 video of making Riven armor cosplay. In this video I am using regular mache to strengthen the props before I fast mache. It’s needed to give extra durability, cover the holes and smoothen joints. Create the paper mache paste with flour, water and glue. Cut strips of paper and dunk it into the paste and apply to the prop. Apply 3-4 layers of paper mache and dry between each layer. Keep in mind that the next step (Fast Mache) is what makes the prop heavier. The less holes filled by the fast mache the lighter it will end up being.

Here is part 4 video of making Riven armor cosplay. In this video I’m using the Fast Mache to plaster the prop up. This makes it durable and creates a armor like appearance. It’s really nice to paint on and makes a prop durable. Make sure to apply a layer around .5mm to 1 cm thick. It needs around a full day to dry and make sure it is completely dry before painting. If you want to have more information about the Fast Mache I used please see my previous post about using Activa’s Fast Mache for cosplay props.

Lion Dance Kog’Maw Hat Tutorial

3 Jul

Lion Dance Kog’Maw shoots the most brilliant fireworks! This hat is lightweight, inexpensive, and perfect for Independence Day in the United States.  Plastic leis, ping pong balls, paper cups, and note cards are the primary materials. How do you celebrate Founding or Independence Day in your country?

Heartseeker Vayne Makeup

25 Jun

Vayne’s retro 50′s glasses inspired me to draw an exaggerated black cat eye with full red lips. I contoured my nose into a thin line and created equally thin, high brow arches to alter my ethnic features. It’s never too late to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Do you use holiday skins out of season?

[CLOSED] League of Legends Riddle Challenge #2 – Win a Riot Nasus Skin

13 Jun

Have you played Emilia LeBlanc in League of Legends? In terms of visual design, LB is my favorite champion because she is stylish and sophisticated. Her lore is also pretty interesting. The current holder of the title “LeBlanc” is named Evaine. She has rather bushy eyebrows and a somewhat masculine facial structure in the NA splash art. However, an enchanted headdress casts an illusion of eternal beauty. The Prestigious LeBlanc skin is one of my favorites in the game.

Here is today’s riddle:
White presides over Black flowers.

Ivory streets falls to Onyx powers.
Broken wax reveals a sealed fate;
Sadly Du Couteau, there is no escape.
Words penned in an ominous hue,
Which vibrant color, if not black or blue?

Please include your summoner name in-game or email in your replies. Don’t be alarmed! We have to accept your comment in order for it to be shown, so if you comment, people will not be able to copy your answer. Make sure all your answers have your summoner name or email! Confused? You can double check by seeing if your comment says “awaiting moderation”. This means that the comment has been sent to us, and no one can see it on the post at the moment.  Don’t forget! If you are not the first comment you still have a chance to win!

Challenge #2 is now closed!

The answer is RED! If you guess any variation of red, we accepted the answer.

White presides over Black flowers.
LeBlanc presides over the Black Rose

Ivory streets falls to Onyx powers.
The Ivory ward has fallen to those who wear onyx stones (Black Rose Society)

Broken wax reveals a sealed fate;
Breaking a wax seal reveals an unchangeable fate

Sadly Du Couteau, there is no escape.
General Du Couteau cannot escape the letter’s contents

Words penned in an ominous hue,
Which vibrant color, if not black or blue?
The words are written in red, according to Cassiopeia’s Judgment. A Black Rose is stamped at the bottom of the letter.

The assassination of General Du Couteau by LeBlanc’s organization is the reason why Cassiopeia joined the League of Legends. This allowed Swain to rise in power. Swain is now the leader of Noxus. Most of these events occurred during Season 1 (when the Journal of Justice was published regularly).

Most of you were on the right track but didn’t know that we were asking for a colour, not a champion! The last two sentences were asking this. We beg you not to get discouraged! No winner has won until it is over! There is still a chance for anyone to win, even if you do not have points at the moment. There are three days left, which means you can still gather max 6 points! We will now release answers and point totals will be revealed on our Facebook page.

Good luck tomorrow!
