Bart Simpson’s Scared Nails

7 Jun

Hiho GGG readers,

Listening to: Cigaro - System Of A Down

Here’s another nail design for my The Simpsons: Tapped Out craze!

20130602_020026

1. To represent Bart Simpson’s t-shirt colour, paint Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Sun Kissed as the base. Painting all nails except the ring finger.

20130601_212707

20130601_214214

2. To design Bart’s face, begin by painting the base of his skin using Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Mellow Yellow and a bended detail nail art brush.

3. Then simply painting the rest of the details with the bended detail nail art brush. (It’s sort of hard to create a step by step process for this tutorial)

4. Seal each nail with 2 coats of clear top coat

This was my end design! Hoped you enjoyed it! More Simpsons to come :)

The Simpsons Heads Nails

24 May

D’oh GGG decorators,

Listening to: The Simpsons Theme Song

So, I have been obsessed with The Simpsons: Tapped Out. It’s mobile game app similar to Sims. I’ll be posting about it very soon so I’ll talk about the details then. But to show you my new app craze, I wanted to design one of the most famous family on television: the Simpsons.

20130519_215421

1. As a base coat, use Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Hot Magenta to simulate The Simpsons painted house walls. For the fore finger, I only painted less than half of the nail as I intended to paint Marge’s large blue hair.

20130519_220814

2. With a fine nail art brush, outline the shape of each of the Simpsons characters head onto each nail

20130519_220428 20130519_220435

3. Paint each outline with Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Mellow Yellow except for Marge’s hair. Simply use Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Blue Me Away

20130520_145837

4. Outline each of the heads with a bended nail art detail brush and black nail polish. Don’t forget to add Maggie’s bow

5. To seal polish, paint two layers of clear base coat

I hope you enjoyed my Simpsons head nails. Be expected a few more Simpsons designs! I’m sure hooked on The Simpsons: Tapped Out

1. Paint the base colour (I used a no name near black blue nail polish colour)

20130413_073329

Material: Small square cut crystal studs ordered on Etsy.com through HailstheNails

PhotoGrid_1366235418432

2. Apply a dot of clear top coat at the top of the thumb, forefinger, and pinky nail

3. Dip dotting tool in clear top coat to pick up the top of the gems

20130413_075934

Cupcake Nails

8 Mar

Hallu GGG readers,

Listening to: Ruled By Secrecy - Muse

So, in the month of February and early March I had five different birthdays to attend so to match the theme I decided to paint cupcakes on my nails.

PhotoGrid_1362335981039

1. Paint about half of the nail with the base colour of the cupcake

2. Once base colour is dry, apply glitter polish

3. With a medium-sized dotting tool and white nail polish dot the top of the base colour horizontally

4. To better paint the top of cupcake, lightly dot white dots to form an outline of the icing

5. Fill in the dots with white nail polish

6. With a mini-sized dotting tool and multiple polishes paint dots all over the white

20130216_100529

7. With a medium-sized dotting tool dot a red dot on the top of the cupcake for the cherry

8. With a mini-sized dotting tool dot a white spot to the side of the cherry

For the middle and ring finger I added caviar pearls:

1. Apply Ciate Pom Pom 084 as the base coat

2. While still wet pour caviar pearls Ciate Candyshop above nail

3. Gently press onto pearls to secure pearls

20130217_113723

Once the pearls started to come off I replaced them with purple based cupcakes!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and happy belated birthday to my two nieces Ana and Cayla, my sister Liza, my nephew Matthew, and to the love of my life!

Fabric Nails #2

22 Feb

Hallu GGG fans,

Listening to: Blackout - Muse

Here’s a nail design I had for Valentine’s day. I know I’m late but hey, they still look cute <3

20130211_192143

1. Apply clear top coat on naked nails

2. As a base coat, I used Sally Hansen’s Petal Pusher. If you use this colour I would recommend three layers

20130211_193327

Applying fabric

3. Cut a strip of fabric long enough to match the length of the nail

4. Along bottom of the nail, brush on nail glue or clear top coat

5. Press on fabric along the glue/top coat and cut off any excess fabric

Optional: what I find irritating with fabric on nails is the fact that the fabric can easily be removed when wet so, you can apply a layer of clear top coat over the nail and fabric.

20130211_195823

Heart design

6. On the ring finger, dot four larger dots close to the middle of the finger

7.  Apply smaller dots to outline the heart

8. Connect the dots together to create the design

20130213_171716

9. Middle finger, apply clear top coat onto bottom of pearl and press onto nail

10. Apply two layers of clear top coat on fabric and pearl

Hope you likey :)

Movember Nails

30 Nov

Allo GGG followers,

Listening to: Wasting Away - Tonight Alive

It’s the end of the month and here’s my last support for Movember. I also was looking to experiment with the fan nail art for this design. I hope you like it :)

Ombre

     1.   Using a makeup sponge apply two different colours allow the edge of the makeup sponge

     2.   Dab the makeup sponge onto nails

     3.   With nail polish remover, clean excess nail polish off skin

     4.   Allow nail polish to dry

     5.   Either paint the tip of your fan brush with your chosen nail colour or dip the tip of the fan brush into the    nail polish

     6.   Brush fan nail art brush across the nail from one side and continue this motion but on the other side

     7.   With a nail detail brush, paint the moustache

     8.   Remove excess nail polish off skin and apply a layer of clear top coat

I hope you enjoyed my Movember nails and continue to support the cure for prostate cancer! Goodbye November, welcome Christmas <3

Misfits Show Nails

13 Sep

Hey hey GGG readers,

Listening to: Love and Pain – New Found Glory

So, there’s this show I’ve been obsessed with. My cousin introduced me to Misfits and she recently got me the first two seasons on Blu ray for my birthday! Misfits is a British science-fiction comedy-drama television series about 5 ASBO (Anti-Social Behaviour Order) kids in community service who are struck by lightning and gain super powers. Sounds a bit questionable but when I gave it a try I couldn’t stop myself. Anyway, along with the Misfits series my cousin also got me nail art brushes so I painted the ASBO’s on my nails of course. Here they are!

These cartoon designs were the inspiration for my nails

I used glow-in-the-dark nail polish as my base colour to represent the lightning in the show. Once I finished with my base colour I started with the white nail polish for the skulls. I found that it was better to start with the lighter colour as it’s harder to paint over black with white. After allowing the white nail polish to dry I painted the black designs with a nail art brush. I allowed the paint to dry and applied two layers of top clear coat.

I hope you enjoyed my nail design! Until next time :)

Concert Crowd Nails

12 Aug

Hi there GGG stalkers,

Listening to: Lullabies – All Time Low

I’ve been slow on nail designs this past month. I’ve had a few ideas but I’ve been occupied and haven’t had the time. These nails were actually done for the Warped Tour concert but when my PC crashed I’ve been waiting for my files to be restored and put onto my external hard drive so I’ve been without the pictures until now… Here they are!

My idea was to make a sunset as the background. I haven’t tried gradient polish so there’s not much effect but the effort is there.

  • Choose about four different colours that are similar to sunset colours having black as your fourth colour
  • Use black to colour the base of your nail. When I did this I only painted half the nail but after trying this method I suggest painting the whole nail.

  • Apply each colour onto your nail from darkest to the brightest colour. Each coloured layer should be painted lower than the underlining colour so to show the previous colour.

  • Allow each layer to dry before applying the next coat

  • Using a black nail polish pen or paint brush paint your crowd. You can draw details such as waving hands or rocker hand gestures. Try to paint your crowd in sequence so that when we put your fingers together they are connected

Rock on!

BMW and Ninja Swords Nails

4 Aug

Hey there GGG admirers,

Listening to: Lauren’s Song - Breathe Carolina

These two nail designs are my older work. They aren’t my favourite, though. Since they are older designs I, unfortunately, have no tutorial pictures to show you. But really, it’s not all that difficult.

BMW nails

I didn’t intend them to resemble the BMW symbol but my boyfriend pointed it out to me once I finished. This was a very simple design, though I do not recommend using what I used for both designs.

Steps: Pick two colours of your choice. Using scotch tape line your nails horizontally and vertically so it’ll create a sort of vertical rectangle on the corner of your nail. Paint with one colour. Allow the polish to dry, applying double layers if needed. Repeat this process to the rest of the corners of your nails alternating the colours. Apply two layers of clear top coat.

Ninja Sword nails

My boyfriend named these ones as well. This process is very similar from the BMW nails only with three colours instead.

Steps: Choose a high contrast colour (silver), a bold colour (black), and neutral colour between the both (purple). First paint your nails with the neutral colour. Again, allow your coats to dry. Apply two pieces of scotch tape on a slant along your nails, having the two tape pieces meet at a close at the tip of your finger. Paint your bold colour, allowing the polish to dry. Then repeat the second step but on the opposite side and with using your contrast colour. Remember to apply your layer of clear top coat to seal it!

Cons: Using scotch tape is very messy and time consuming. The end result isn’t very pleasant as it leaves some raised look to the polish. When removing the tape, be very careful as it may tear the polish you just applied off your nail and you’ll end up doing to again. It’s very time consuming as you would have to wait until each layer is completely dry before applying the tape. If you apply the tape too soon and press too hard your result maybe the same as mine: when I removed the tape it would remove the under layer of nail polish too.

If you do it free-hand, I say better than scotch tape or if you can suggest any neater ideas I have no objections to trying :)
