The Simpsons Heads Nails

24 May

D’oh GGG decorators,

Listening to: The Simpsons Theme Song

So, I have been obsessed with The Simpsons: Tapped Out. It’s mobile game app similar to Sims. I’ll be posting about it very soon so I’ll talk about the details then. But to show you my new app craze, I wanted to design one of the most famous family on television: the Simpsons.

20130519_215421

1. As a base coat, use Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Hot Magenta to simulate The Simpsons painted house walls. For the fore finger, I only painted less than half of the nail as I intended to paint Marge’s large blue hair.

20130519_220814

2. With a fine nail art brush, outline the shape of each of the Simpsons characters head onto each nail

20130519_220428 20130519_220435

3. Paint each outline with Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Mellow Yellow except for Marge’s hair. Simply use Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear: Blue Me Away

20130520_145837

4. Outline each of the heads with a bended nail art detail brush and black nail polish. Don’t forget to add Maggie’s bow

5. To seal polish, paint two layers of clear base coat

I hope you enjoyed my Simpsons head nails. Be expected a few more Simpsons designs! I’m sure hooked on The Simpsons: Tapped Out

Hola GGG readers,

Listening to: Hey – The Pixies

Here’s another spring fun nail design. I tried a detailed pattern design similarly used for furniture. Hope you like :)

20130413_073218

1. Paint the base colour (I used a no name near black blue nail polish colour)

20130413_073329

Material: Small square cut crystal studs ordered on Etsy.com through HailstheNails

PhotoGrid_1366235418432

2. Apply a dot of clear top coat at the top of the thumb, forefinger, and pinky nail

3. Dip dotting tool in clear top coat to pick up the top of the gems

20130413_075934

5. Apply two coats of clear top coat over gems and nails

PhotoGrid_1366235383917

Dandelion Nails

12 Apr

Allu GGG nailers,

Listening to: Asleep – The Smiths

Here’s a little spring time nail design. Kinda reminds me of that scene in Beauty and the Beast where Belle is singing as she watches the dandelion float into the sunset sky lol. I’m lame :P

20130326_211114

1. Apply clear top coat as base coat

2. Paint two layers of base nail colour (Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow)

20130326_215202

3. On a cosmetic sponge, apply a layer of the base colour (Mellow Yellow)

4. While base colour is still wet, apply a layer of second nail colour (Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Mauve It)

20130326_215115

5. Dab sponge onto nails multiple times until nail is completely covered to create a gradient effect

20130326_220939

6. Nail art brush bent detail

20130326_221001

7. Using black nail polish and nail art brush bent detail paint a slight curve and paint at the top of the curve a horizontal stud on the thumb and ring finger

20130326_223727

8. With white nail polish paint short streaks at the top of the stem and across the fore finger and middle finger

9. Apply a clear top coat times two

And here’s my first spring design.

4. Small gold circle nail studs

20130222_211822

Cupcake Nails

8 Mar

Hallu GGG readers,

Listening to: Ruled By Secrecy - Muse

So, in the month of February and early March I had five different birthdays to attend so to match the theme I decided to paint cupcakes on my nails.

PhotoGrid_1362335981039

1. Paint about half of the nail with the base colour of the cupcake

2. Once base colour is dry, apply glitter polish

3. With a medium-sized dotting tool and white nail polish dot the top of the base colour horizontally

4. To better paint the top of cupcake, lightly dot white dots to form an outline of the icing

5. Fill in the dots with white nail polish

6. With a mini-sized dotting tool and multiple polishes paint dots all over the white

20130216_100529

7. With a medium-sized dotting tool dot a red dot on the top of the cupcake for the cherry

8. With a mini-sized dotting tool dot a white spot to the side of the cherry

For the middle and ring finger I added caviar pearls:

1. Apply Ciate Pom Pom 084 as the base coat

2. While still wet pour caviar pearls Ciate Candyshop above nail

3. Gently press onto pearls to secure pearls

20130217_113723

Once the pearls started to come off I replaced them with purple based cupcakes!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and happy belated birthday to my two nieces Ana and Cayla, my sister Liza, my nephew Matthew, and to the love of my life!

Fabric Nails #2

22 Feb

Hallu GGG fans,

Listening to: Blackout - Muse

Here’s a nail design I had for Valentine’s day. I know I’m late but hey, they still look cute <3

20130211_192143

1. Apply clear top coat on naked nails

2. As a base coat, I used Sally Hansen’s Petal Pusher. If you use this colour I would recommend three layers

20130211_193327

Applying fabric

3. Cut a strip of fabric long enough to match the length of the nail

4. Along bottom of the nail, brush on nail glue or clear top coat

5. Press on fabric along the glue/top coat and cut off any excess fabric

Optional: what I find irritating with fabric on nails is the fact that the fabric can easily be removed when wet so, you can apply a layer of clear top coat over the nail and fabric.

20130211_195823

Heart design

6. On the ring finger, dot four larger dots close to the middle of the finger

7.  Apply smaller dots to outline the heart

8. Connect the dots together to create the design

20130213_171716

9. Middle finger, apply clear top coat onto bottom of pearl and press onto nail

10. Apply two layers of clear top coat on fabric and pearl

Hope you likey :)

PhotoGrid_1360515516246

DIY: Eyeshadow Nail Polish

1 Feb

Allu GGG followers,

Listening to: Die Young – Ke$ha

I saw this interesting way of making your own nail polish colour with just a nail art brush, eyeshadow, and clear top coat. I found this DIY idea on Instagram. I don’t remember the username of where I found this but kudos to the person who thought of this!

20130119_175023

Materials: clear top coat, eyeshadow, medium nail art brush

20130119_175051

20130119_175045

20130119_175039

I used pink and blue as I dropped my eyeshadow case and the eyeshadow had already shattered lol.

1. Choose your eyeshadow colour and scrap enough for mixing

2. Crush the eyeshadow with a Q-tip into a fine grainy material

PhotoGrid_1359510648131

3. Add enough clear top coat to eyeshadow for mixing

4. Mix eyeshadow and clear top coat until colour is completely mixed and until eyeshadow is mixed into a liquid (I recommend mixing with your nail art brush as a Q-tip gathers too much of the eyeshadow liquid and wastes a lot of the nail polish)

20130119_175625

5. Apply a coat onto each nail (You may find that the liquid dries out quickly dependent on the fast dry of your clear top coat so be sure to work quickly)

20130119_175854

6. Apply a clear top coat onto dried eyeshadow liquid (As you can see the middle finger does not have a layer of top coat as it has a matte finish whereas the ring finger is left with a top coat which leaves a gloss finish)

20130119_180807Here was the final finish! I didn’t do a clean finish as I was rushed for time but it works well. As long as you have a top coat, the eyeshadow liquid does not easily wash off!

Magnetic Nails – Sally Hansen Nail Polish

25 Jan

Hi GGG nail decorators,

Listening to: All My Heart – Sleeping With Sirens

Here’s a real simple nail design that doesn’t require much skill. If you’re in a bind use magnetic nail polish!

20121231_213207

I’ll be showing you the magnetic design for Sally Hansen’s Magnetic nail polish in Ionic Indigo and Graphite Gravity.

20121231_213220

20121231_213335

For Sally Hansen’s Magnetic nail polish and most magnetic polish bottles the magnet is found on the top of the bottle cap.

20121231_213828

Follow instructions provided with polish:

1. Apply a layer of clear base coat and let dry

2. Paint a thin layer of magnetic polish and allow dry

20121231_214044

3. Apply a thicker layer of magnetic nail polish

20121231_214110

4. While the second layer is still wet immediately hold the magnet on the cap over each nail. Rest the guide just below the cuticle without touching the nail. Hold for at least 10 seconds.

5. Apply with clear top coat

20130101_095627

Here is the completed polish for Sally Hansen’s Ionic Indigo

20130104_183123

And this is Sally Hansen’s Graphite Gravity

Hope you enjoyed it! Until next time :)

Christmas Nails #2 and #3

11 Jan

Hello GGG fans,

Listening to: You Be The Anchor That Keeps My Feet On The Ground – Mayday Parade

I know this a late post about Christmas Nails but here it is! These are two other nail designs I created for the holiday.

20130101_170455

These were the tools that I used to create my designs:

  1. Long Striper
  2. French Brush
  3. Bent Detail Brush
  4. Small sized Dotting Tool

Christmas Nails #2

Before designing, paint your clean nails with a clear base coat (you could use a clear top coat) to help protect your nails

20130101_155634

For the index finger and pinky, I painted a candy cane design.

  1. Paint the base with white nail polish
  2. With red nail polish, the long striper brush, and french brush line your nails with multiple diagonal lines. Starting from the top right of your nail to the bottom left.

20130101_1721261

Your end result would look similar to this. Add clear top coat.

20130101_1506212

For the thumb, middle finger, and ring finger I did a simple french manicure with a holly design.

  1. With the French mani brush and white nail polish, paint a thick layer of white nail polish across the bottom of your nail. You can choose to paint your mani more than your nail exceeds your finger.
  2. Paint the top coat with a white glitter nail polish for a Christmas like design.
  3. Leave your middle finger with this design

20130101_151146

For the thumb and ring finger:

  1. Using red nail polish and a small sized dotting tool, dot three circles close together to create the berries of the holly
  2. With the bent detail brush and green nail polish, design three leafs between each red circle

20130101_170957Be sure to apply a clear layer of top coat!

Christmas Nails #3

For this design, I didn’t take pictures for tutorials because I didn’t have the time.

  1. Paint each nail with a clear base coat
  2. Paint each nail with a thick layer or two layers of red nail polish
  3. Index, Middle, Pinky:  paint a top layer of gold glitter
  4. Ring finger: design a simple snowflake: with a medium sized dotting tool and white nail polish create a dot on one half of your nail. Using a bent detail brush, paint extended lines from the dot
  5. Thumb: use a french brush and paint a thick layer or two layers of white nail polish across the bottom of the nail and a vertical line in the middle of the nail.
  6. Across the middle of the nail, paint a thick black line to create Santa’s belt.
  7. With the bent detail brush and gold nail polish, paint a rectangle in the middle of the belt and paint a slight extension from the left of the rectangle toward the middle

20130101_183644

Here was the end result. Add clear top coat.

I hope you enjoyed the holidays with your loved ones! Until next time!
